Your Dream Must Pass Under The Shadow of Death

By Michael Q. Pink

Every dream, every worthy goal will be tested.

You will have to carry it through the valley of the shadow of death. That death, is not a physical one. Rather it’s the threat of the death of your vision, your dream, your goal, even your hope. That shadow speaks death to anyone with godly aspirations. It’s not always direct. Usually, it just asks you questions. Questions that raise doubts. Because doubts are what kills faith and tests mental toughness.

Will my new venture work? Will people love it or even like it? Is it good enough? Am I good enough? Am I deluding myself to think I can do this? What if nobody buys it? What if I run out of money? What if, what if, what if…???

The shadow of death has a voice and it will speak to you.

If you give in to those negative thoughts by entertaining them, pondering them, considering them, you will deplete your dream, your goal, even your desire for life. Do it long enough and the shadow wins, your dream dies and your life becomes just an existence.

I don’t want that for me, or for you. So, let’s press on, build up our faith, stay in the fast lane, in the building mode. Remember Nehemiah… “Let us rise up and build!” He was speaking about building a big, beautiful wall that had gates to allow peaceful entry of desirable persons but keep out threats to their people.

But his detractors tried to get the workers to stop, by using words and mocking them. In chapter 6 of Nehemiah, his detractors asked him to come down off the wall they were building so they could talk. Anything to stop the building of the wall. Read Nehemiah… They were always trying to get him off the wall to talk.

That’s what the shadow of death does.

It says, “Let’s talk about this.” It wants to infuse your mind with doubt, with fear, with uncertainty, with hesitation. Just enough to stop your forward progress. But it’s only a shadow. It has no real power – other than the power of suggestion. If you buy into its suggestions, the shadow wins, your dream dies (and you along with it, eventually).

Make no mistake, accomplishing your goals and realizing your dreams requires something special from you. Most people fail at their dreams and abandon them. They tried. They failed. They don’t really know why.

I do. Most of the time, it comes down to one thing.

Clarity.

Really, it’s the lack of clarity.

Real clarity has a step by step plan. That plan always includes an implementation intention laying out what will be done at what time and where. Added to that are accountability contracts. People with clearly laid implementation intentions coupled with accountability contracts, reach their goals 95% of the time, compared to missing it the vast majority of the time.

There is some work to it for sure, but it need not be stressful. In fact, in God’s perfect business model (Supernatural Business) we make it abundantly clear what it takes to succeed in your business. Once you know the how, which includes the what and when, succeeding becomes an expected pleasure rather than a “hoped for” long shot.

If you want to know more about how we can help you achieve significant goals, get on our mailing list and be watching for our Supernatural Selling and Supernatural Business training we will be releasing in Q1 of 2019. It will give you laser like clarity and set up for great success in 2019!

Until next time, be fruitful and multiply!

  • As always, Michael, you hit the nail on the head. It seems that with every vision given in the scriptures, Father sets about to see if we love Him and trust Him even more than the vision. We get excited with the idea of the vision…and then wake up one day to realize that it just might be impossible…in walks the wisdom and creativity of the Holy Spirit…Thanks for your continued diligence to those living in the trenches thinking from above!
