What Solomon Said About… INVESTING IN YOUR MIND

By Michael Q. Pink

June 1, 2021

Solomon, the wisest and wealthiest man who ever lived, said, “Wisdom is the principal thing: Therefore get wisdom and with all they getting get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7)

You’ve probably read that a few dozen times, but what I am about to share with you is as simple as it is profound.

Don’t gloss over this or you will miss something that could truly and fully revolutionize your life.
This Scripture is about wisdom AND understanding

You need both! In it are the keys for success and business. The word translated “wisdom” means “skillful”. Think of it as being full of skill!

ONE reason so many people are living below their dreams and often broke, is because they have minimal skills.

They forget that the market rewards skill. The thing about wisdom or skill is that according to Job 11:6, it has “secrets”.

When you see someone highly skilled in something, they usually have learned some of what some call, “trade secrets”. It goes something like this… “The secret to doing this faster or better or more profitably is…” (fill in the blank).

They have learned something that they have mastered or become skillful at that produces the desired and highly rewarding result.

Succeeding in sales is a developed skill (not a series of manipulation techniques). And succeeding in a business is a more complex skill, but a skill, nonetheless.

It requires three major things…

1. Skillfully creating a product or service that provides value far in excess of the cost.

2. Skillfully marketing and selling that product or service

3. Skillfully managing the inflow and outflow of resources in a way that leaves you a healthy profit with which you can develop financial reserves and invest for additional growth.

Your “lack” of financial resources is NOT because you’re incapable. It’s because you haven’t mastered or developed the necessary skills YET to provide and communicate value and manage the resulting financial flow.

We can solve that together.

The other thing about wisdom or possessing a skill of value, is that Solomon says it is the FIRST or “PRINCIPAL” thing. If you want to live an extraordinary life, first develop the necessary skills to achieve that life

Want to succeed in business?

1) Develop a strong VCR (Value to Cost Ratio) so your customers easily recognize the value they’re getting relative to the cost or investment they will make.

2) Become skillful at marketing and selling the VCR you have created or represent. (The better your VCR, the easier it is to market and generate sales.)

3) Make skill which is nothing more than “applied knowledge”, your first priority.

So how do you acquire the skill (wisdom) to succeed in business?

The answer may astound you. It may even offend you.

But here it is… GET it!

Huh? What did I just say???

The word translated “get” in Proverbs 4:7 is most often translated “BUY”.

In other words my friend, if you want to “get” wisdom, you need to trade currency (something of value) to learn that skill.

In other words, BUY it!

Could it really be that simple?

Yes it is.

There will still be plenty of hard work, but you’ll make fewer mistakes and enjoy a quicker path to success!

When you buy skillfulness (wisdom), you are buying back your life because money is just time in folded form

Trade it any time you can for skill, so you can redeem it for time. (As Paul encouraged, “redeem the time for the days are evil.”)

Then Solomon adds this… “With all your GETTING, GET understanding.”

Understanding is emotional intelligence,… the ability to discern, connect with, and communicate to the seat of desire, (otherwise known as the “heart”).

The phrase “with all your getting” literally means, “with all your substance, riches, material possessions or wealth”

So, the verse could be translated…
“Developing skill is the most important thing. Therefore, buy it! And with all your substance, riches, material possessions or wealth, purchase the ability to understand, discern, connect with and communicate to the seat of desire, from which all decisions flow (the heart)”

A few weeks ago, and again last Thursday, I was privileged to share my interview with Peter Daniels on a webinar.

In it, folks were given the opportunity to “exchange money for wisdom and understanding”. In other words, to exchange temporal resources for the skills and emotional intelligence that raised him up from a bricklayer to exceptional wealth and a quality of life few dare to even imagine.

The kind of life, that is built on a Biblical foundation and vital connection with God. The kind of life where family is integral and not an interruption and where life is much more than a struggle to survive… It can be truly lived to the full! (John 10:10)

Does that kind of life appeal to you?

A lot of people took advantage of what I consider a once in a lifetime opportunity to be mentored by a Godly man who has made more fortunes than most dream of.

But some missed out…

If you missed your chance to take advantage of that offer, we made it available again. Due to the Memorial Day weekend here in the U.S. we are extending it to Midnight on Wednesday.
