In 2019, I shared with students in my worldwide Selling Among Wolves online coaching program that 2020 would be a truly historic and unprecedented year. I remember on New Years Day as I was walking our dog Judah, telling other dog walkers that we were stepping into an historic year. I would frankly tell anyone who would listen.
Then on February 1st, I saw an open vision while driving with Judy to Mississippi. It was an apparently barren field that quickly sprang to life with new, green growth, indicating a future harvest. No one thought the field had potential, but seeds had been planted in it years ago and the season was about to unfold that caused the seeds to germinate and break forth.
In the natural, that requires heat and water. In the Bible, heat speaks of the fiery trials and water speaks of the Word. I wrote in my blog the next morning (Get Ready…) that something was coming in the spring, (whether literally the spring or figuratively, I did not know for certain) and it would bring heat (trials) to the world, but specifically I was concerned for my beloved America (with all her splendor and blemishes).
When COVID-19 hit, it reeked of manipulation and intentionality – with an agenda. It was only the beginning (phase one) of a series of planned events (attacks) that are still unfolding. The rioting and looting we see now, is only phase two.
As the virus spread and fear gripped the world, I began sharing with friends, that summer always follows spring and this year would be no different. In the spring, we begin to feel the heat, but in the summer, it becomes a relentless burden. I began to tell Judy and others that summer was going to be hot and I wasn’t referring to the temperature. Things were going to really heat up this summer.
It can be oppressive, and I believe it will be. Whether you understand it or not, there is an agenda, but WE HAVE A ROLE TO PLAY in thwarting the plans of the wicked one.
I knew that when spring was over, that summer would bring more intense heat (trials), which would make spring feel like a welcome reprieve if we could somehow get that back. But there is no turning back the clock. There is however, a way forward.
It is through the OPEN WINDOW, the OPEN DOOR and the OPEN HEAVEN. This is not hyperbole. It is Divine strategy.
It begins with the open window.
And for that, let me take you back to around 550 B.C. where we read of the role Daniel played to thwart the plans of the enemy.
He was one of three governors of the Medo-Persian empire and was being considered for the top spot under Darius. His enemies were numerous and they plotted against him, setting a trap for him using his religious liberty against him. (Daniel 6:6-9)
As a result, a law was passed banning petitioning any man or God other than Darius. Whoever violated the ban on that previously unfettered religious liberty, would be cast into the den of lions.
Here was Daniel’s reaction when he heard the news… “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks (PRAISE) before his God, as was his custom since early days.” Daniel 6:10
This is the what I call the LAW OF THE OPEN WINDOW. As we enter into the fiery trials of summer, throw open your windows and petition God (prayer) AND offer thanksgiving (praise).
When Daniel did this in defiance of the unrighteous law, he was arrested and thrown into the den of lions. Daniel was tested, but God delivered him. Furthermore, the wicked ones were gathered up and thrown into the lions den, where they met their terrible demise.
Believe it or not, during this summer of fiery trials, I have very high hopes and expectations. Firstly, although we may experience the same circumstance as others, the outcome can be very different for us.
I believe Daniel’s lifestyle of prayer and praise made all the difference. And it will for you and me, as well! I’m not saying we will escape tribulation, but rather that there is a way through the trying times. “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.” (Revelation 3:10)
During the open window season we have just entered (June 1 – mid September), we need to pray and give thanks, without apology or fear.
This is not the time for casual inquiry. Seek the Lord with unreserved earnestness.
At this moment, the nature of the season of testing has not been revealed to me. I expect civil unrest to escalate, perhaps after a lull. I expect disruptions to our way of life. I expect disruptions within the established economic order. (That’s just me, looking ahead.)
When people can’t pay their rent or buy food, what happens? We are about to find out.
What happens when nations can’t pay their debts? How does that affect the economic world order? We are about to find out.
What happens when fallen men with dark agendas attempt to take advantage of the chaos and fear they engineered? We are about to find out.
Will you throw open your window and petition God WITH thanksgiving? Our response to what’s coming will determine the end result.
How was Daniel able to give thanks when he knew the plot was against him and he wasn’t going to hide?
I would suggest that maybe he was able to give thanks because he knew the outcome and was thankful for the opportunity to display the power of the One True God to Darius and even the world. (After all, he was arguably history’s most precise and completely accurate prophet.)
In fact, when Darius saw that Daniel survived unharmed, he not only threw the bad guys into the lions den, but more importantly, he issued a decree that in every dominion of his kingdom, that “men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for He is the living God, and steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, and His dominion shall endure to the end!” (Daniel 6:26)
Think about that!!!!
How would you feel if you were selected by God (using the foolish devices of the enemy) to bring about a worldwide turning of nations to the true King of Kings?
I’d be thankful too! And excited! Wouldn’t you?
There is at this very moment an epic war between light and darkness.
Darkness has waged this war while the forces of light were for the most part, caught off guard. In troublous times, we continue to work but we should have a sword at the ready. (Nehemiah 4:18)
A time of testing is coming, more severe than we’ve seen to date. As the warfare intensifies, so should your prayer, praise and thanksgiving.
The testing will appear to be life threatening and to many it will be. I do not know the precise nature of the test, except to say, it is for the most part unexpected. If God were to tell you now, you wouldn’t believe it. In fact, many would scoff.
It will have economic consequences though.
For many, those consequences will be severe, but for those who throw their windows open and seek the wisdom, counsel and will of God, it will be just the opposite.
But this wisdom, when given, will require faith…
And faith will require action.
And action requires courage.
And courage gives no voice to fear.
Instead it advances in the face of fear. And that puts dread and terror in the eyes of the enemy. This will, by the way, for a season, stir up even more spiritual interference, but we must stand fast.
I speak this word now so you will have it when the proverbial test hits the unrelenting fan. It will be messy, but the one with the force of the wind (Spirit) always wins.
The good news is that there is no lack to those who seek the Lord. (“The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.” Psalm 34:10) Do you believe this or do you prefer to call God a liar? Speak now or hold your peace.
For those who have eyes to see and ears to hear, learn from Isaiah 60:5 where it says in part, “The wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you.” (I have much to say and offer concerning this, but that is for future blogs.)
Remember that “ALL the promises of God in Him are yes, and in Him, Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Cor 1:20)
I can tell you, this is the season of the wheat and tares, growing up together, knocking heads in the field. In the end, one will have dominance and the other destruction.
I can tell you, not to pray that you be removed from the field, for according to King Jesus, that is not the will of the Father. (“I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.” John 17:15)
Pray rather that you would remain in the field and bring fruit to maturity at harvest time, (Luke 8:14) when Jesus Himself will give the command to the reapers… “First gather the tares and bind them in bundles, to burn, but gather the wheat into MY barn” (Matthew 13:30)
What follows the open window is always the open door.
For Daniel, the open window led to the open door of the lions den. It was through the door of the lions den, that Daniel then “prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.” (Daniel 6:28)
I don’t know anyone who wants to walk through the open door to the lion’s den, but sometimes that is the only doorway to unprecedented prosperity and authority for God’s intended purposes.
The way to prepare to walk through that door is through the open window. Open windows prepare us for open doors.
Open doors lead to promotion but are not for the faint at heart.
Details to follow in my next posting. Be watching for it.
Until next time, be fruitful and multiply!
