Focus Trumps Skill – An Incredible Story of Triumph!

Without FOCUS you will accomplish little of value in life. People with average skill but intense focus have accomplished results normally attributed to genius. But it is not genius. It is within reach of all of us. You first must decide on what is worthy of your focus.

Never in history has so much information and distraction been placed in front of us. There was a time when there were no billboards, no radio signals, no television, no Facebook, not even an Internet. There were distractions available, but not nearly as plentiful as today.

Have you ever noticed the strategy of diversion, where an enemy creates a distraction in one place so you won’t see what’s happening somewhere else? I believe we are experiencing that today. So one must ask, “Why all the distractions? What are we not supposed to see?”

We as a people are so easily swayed by the god of this age, the prince of the power of the air and we don’t even know it! But the cure is simple. Pursue God. I don’t mean a measly 15 minutes of “quiet time” a day. I mean pursue Him like your life depends on it – because in many ways, it does. I’m talking about getting focused on His kingdom and His righteousness and learning how to operate your business out of that mindset.

This Friday evening I will be interviewing Peter J Daniels, a remarkable Christian who was an illiterate, third generation welfare recipient turned brick layer living in Australia. Everything about his background screamed, “You’ll never make it!” But he was born again in 1959 at a Billy Graham crusade and came to believe that he could make something of his life.

He learned to read the Bible and over the next number of years, got really focused on learning. He read over 6,000 biographies and countless other books while also studying Scripture. He began applying what he learned with intentionality and became a millionaire, more than a thousand times over and used his wealth to advance God’s kingdom. He became focused on having a kingdom mindset while taking dominion in the marketplace. Do you want to learn how to do that?

I have never spoken with a man more focused than him. He is intense, but kind and will not suffer fools. At 82 years of age, he still wants to raise up Christian leaders who want to succeed in business to change the world. If you want to feel the power of focus, be watching for that interview to be posted on this blog. If you have any questions you would like me to ask him, make a suggestion in the comment section of this post.

Until then, be fruitful and multiply!

  • at what time does he go to sleep and at what time does he get up in the morning, how much time “alone” does he spend with the Lord daily and at what time does he do it?
I look forward to the interview.

    God Bless.!!

  • What is the most important factor or strategy that you use in integrating your faith and your business? Congratulations Michael on this opportunity … looking forward to the interview!

  • What a timely article. I start my daily to do list with words about love from 1st Corinthians 13, to remind me how I should walk as i work. And I have started writing the word “Focus” on the hand or wrist every day, so I am reminded to ask myself continually what am I supposed to accomplish today. I am, at age 61, starting from the very bottom financially but with a great hope of setting an example for the younger generations of never giving up. I have great vision. Sometimes I am tempted to give up, but if our vision has something in it for the good of the world, we should never give up the fight. I am so looking forward to this interview.

    • Great way to start your day Jerri. Be sure to check back for when the interview is posted. Thank you for commenting! Be sure to post this on Facebook so your friends can learn about it too…

      Blessings,

      Michael

  • Mr. Daniels is a truly remarkable man. I had the awesome opportunity of meeting him at one of his conferences here in South Africa about 20 years ago. What an incredible example he is.

Please send our greeting from South Africa.

And Michael, keep up the great work. I’m really benefiting from your teachings.

    • Hi Daryl;

Thank you so much for your encouraging comment. I really want to share the incredible wealth of knowledge this man has with other believers in the marketplace. Glad you will be able to hear the interview when we post it.

      Blessings!

      Michael

  • Wow! Peter J Daniels is one of my heroes and I had the privilege of him phoning me this year for business advice. What’s the biggest hindrance for believers becoming successful in becoming wealthy and how should they overcome it?

    Many thanks

    Vijay
