There is a Better Way…

Most of us got to where we are today, doing things the way they’re generally done, using worldly wisdom that James tells us is earthly, sensual and demonic. Its most common trait is that it is self-seeking and envious. (James 3:14-15) Isn’t that the bait? “You too can be rich, famous, and skinny, beautiful, smart and ever so popular!”

But there is another kind of wisdom. Solomon tells us in Proverbs 9:1 that it has seven pillars. He just fails to disclose them to us. But James picks up on that thread in James 3:17 and describes for us the seven pillars of wisdom. Wisdom of this sort is found along the Ancient paths where the good way is, (Jeremiah 6:16) where the burden is light and there is rest for your soul. (Matthew 11:28-30).

But the gate to the ancient path where the good way is found, is “narrow and difficult and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14) Perhaps you would prefer the wide gate where “many are entering.” Surely all those people can’t be wrong, can they Oprah? But it leads to destruction.

It matters not that you SAY…

“Lord, Lord, did I not preach, prophesy and do many amazing things in Your name?” He will say on that day, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” (Matthew 7:23) What matters is, does He know you? That word “know” is referring to an intimate type of knowing. Most of us would say, we know the president of our country, but none of us really know him, because we have never met, let alone shared a dwelling with him.

As for practicing lawlessness, God did not do away with the moral law of God. He ended the sacrificial law by fulfilling it. Those who now live as if God no longer has a moral law are sadly deceived. But more on that in future blogs perhaps.

What I want to conclude with is that “there is a way that seems right unto a man, but its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 14:12) You don’t have to choose that popular way, through the wide gate in the city of Babylon that leads to destruction. You can choose the Ancient Paths where the good way is, where you will find rest for your soul and life eternal.

If you want to know what that looks like in a business context, you might like the MPI Christian Business Institute. This has a global reach with students enrolled from five continents.
